We spent our second Christmas together this year, but still experienced many firsts. This was our first Christmas apart from our families down south. We missed them sorely, but they were constantly in our heart and mind. At the same time, we were thankful for our church family here. On Christmas Eve, I went out to the city to meet Richard for lunch since he had to work that day. It was so weird being in the city on Christmas Eve instead of traveling like we normally do. It was strangely peaceful walking around the city that day despite all the bustling last minute shoppers surrounding me. Don't know why. Richard and I had lots of fun hanging out together in the city and I'll cherish these days forever.
It was my first time at Gott's and it was mighty delicious indeed. Aren't those some beautiful burgers?
After a nice lunch, we decided to go to bi-rite since we've heard so many good things about their ice cream. We walked down Mission Ave which was terrifying but we finally made it to our destination. I have to say that I am still an ici fan :) Don't hate!
After our tummys were happy, Richard and I did some Christmas shopping ourselves at my favorite stores: Anthro, Nordstroms, Banana, and J.Crew. After all our happy shopping, we finally barted home for a homemade dinner =) Richard surprised me with my presents later that evening and he made me cry. He's the sweetest husband evers. A good way to end the evening. =)
Christmas morning we made Gingerbread pancakes with blackberry puree for the first time. I really cherish the times we make breakfast together, enjoy our morning, and eat slowly into the afternoon. =) I want to remember these days where we enjoy the simple things in life and thank Jesus who makes life worthwhile.
We're off to SLO tomorrow to join some of our friends into the New Year. Hope you guys have smiles on your faces and thankfulness in your hearts as you have a Happy New Year!
