Day One

Dear Bob*,

After finding out that I'll be running in the Nike Marathon along with my friends, Andrew sent us a training schedule to help us reach our 13 mile goal. Knowing that we're not runners, he suggested that we modify the typical regimen. A wise man. He said...

"Screw this whole starting off with 3 miles.  Let's do week 0, week -1, week -2, etc....  Let's begin with a refreshing 10 minute stroll. 2 day's later we'll upgrade to a pleasant 20 minute stride. 2 days after that a brisk jog for 1/2 hour.  THAT will be the first week."

I should have listened to him, but I foolishly went straight to running ONE mile. I should clarify, my goal was one mile. What was I thinking?!?! I'm embarrassed to tell you that I failed miserably. I ran half a mile and crashed. But I'm not giving up, I promise you that.

After my massive failure I needed a pick me up, and at just the right moment I found this. Thank you, Bob, you inspire me.

I, too, am a skinny fat girl. But I believe there is hope for me, yes, I believe. You ask me, "Are you Ready?" My answer is an emphatic YES! On Day two I shall follow Andrew's recommendation and take a pleasant 20 minute stride.

Ready & Hopeful,
Hanna

*Bob Harper is a trainer on The Biggest Loser (my fav. show! more on that later..) Richard kindly offered to be my Bob for my training season. THANKS RICHARD!

  1. When I lived in E-Ville, I loved running along that runner's lane between the freeway and the bay. (It starts around where the entrance to Chevy's is.)

Such a nice view, especially at sunset. You should train on it!

  2. My goal is to do a triathlon. Running will be the biggest challenge for me, too! Thankfully, I don't have to run a marathon...
