Here we are getting ready to leave for our appointment
After we had our consultation the doctor had bad news for us. He explained that Richard was not a good candidate for lasik because his corneas were too thin and the surgery would be too risky. Richard was bummed, to say the least. His dream of being glasses/contacts free was crushed. Even though I was a good case for lasik, I decided to skip out on the surgery because it was something I wanted to do with Richard. Plus, I wasn't too thrilled about it to begin with.
Richard after our appointment. :(
Both of us were so sure that we'd be glasses free by the time we returned home that day, but to our surprise, we were still wearing our glasses when we left the doctor's office. It was a strange feeling to be suddenly back to normal after having prepared ourselves for change, emotionally, mentally, and physically for a few weeks. We thought our lives would be different, but nothing had changed except our plans. And when life doesn't go exactly the way we plan out in our minds, we're thrown off guard for a moment until we realize once again that God is the One who is in control, even with small things like lasik. This weekend was a good reminder that my life is in His hands & I'm not in control...and I think I needed it.
Here we are back at home, 10 hours later (many many hours in traffic), sun still shining (love you socal), and still wearing our glasses. :) Still a good day.
