We All Scream for Homemade Ice Cream!

Richard has the biggest sweet tooth out of anyone I've ever met. He could easily eat a whole box of sweet and sour patches, donuts, twizzlers, cheesecake, and whatever else he can get his hands on. I never regularly ate dessert until I started dating Richard and now I crave something sweet after every meal! -_-

Last Christmas, we got a Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker from my sister-in-law and Richard was beyond ecstatic. Since then, he has been very faithful in trying new ice cream recipes almost weekly. He doesn't really know how to cook, but he can make some good ice cream! So far we've made mint chip (twice), coffee, vanilla fudge, strawberry, and fuji apple caramel ice cream. And when I say we, I mean Richard, as the ice cream head chef (self proclaimed) and me, whom he calls his sous chef. Today we tried a new recipe, orange chocolate chip, which we were inspired by ici in Berkeley.

 

Here's Richard peeling off the orange skin to make zest for the ice cream. 

He claims to be a professional orange peeler.

We cut up all the orange peels into tiny pieces since we didn't have a zester. 

As his sous chef, I squeezed the oranges to prepare 1/2 cup of orange juice for the mix. 

 

And of course, the chocolate chips!

Then we mixed together milk, heavy cream, sugar, the oj, & orange zest. 

 

And into the ice cream maker it goes! 

  

And there you have it. Delicious orange chocolate chip ice cream and a satisfied sweet tooth! Please come over and help us eat our ice cream...we have 3 cartons in our freezer!
